Will This Hurt the GOP in 2008?
I was talking to someone yesterday. This guy is a staunch Republican and yet he says he is strongly condsidering voting for Hillary Clinton in 2008. The reason is pure economics and he stated it succinctly:
While Clinton was getting his piece of a@@, we had cheap gas.
So, will the price of gas affect the presidential nominations in 2008? Or is the problem more deeply rooted? I am having a sense of dissatisfication on how the Global War on Terror is being done. While our Armed Forces are doing an awesome job ridding the world of terrorists, the political stance of the Bush administration seems to be misguided. We browbeat our friends such as Israel and do not hold our so called friends Pakistan and Saudia Arabia accountable. We give money to the PA and they will more than likely use it to buy more arms to kill more innocent Israeli civilians: grandmothers, mothers, uncles, teenagers, children, and others who have so much to give and whose lives have been cut way too short. Share your thoughts.

Seawitch,
"do not hold our so called friends Pakistan and Saudia Arabia accountable"
I couldn't agree more.
Also insisting that Islam is not a problem sends wrong signals tio the enemy.
Carrot and little stick won't work here.
'This guy is a staunch Republican and yet he says he is strongly condsidering voting for Hillary Clinton in 2008.'
He is not a staunch Republican.
felis,
Until we name Islam as the problem, it's going to get worse.
TS,
This guy is very Republican and to hear him say something like that leads me to believe that the GOP has a very serious problem. Remember when the catch phrase was "It's the economy, stupid" and the Democrats were voted in?
Does your friend know that Hillary wants to raise the gas tax and then have the oil companies fund alternative fuel sources? She said this to a crowd of alternative fuel investors recently. That's soccer moms etc who will bear the brunt of that. If your friend wants to pay less at the pump, tell him to lobby China to quit subisdizing the cost of gas to their consumers.
elmers bro,
I'll let him know. He's just mad right now. His seafood company was also destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and he is having problems with insurance companies, FEMA, and the SBA. Doesn't look too kindly on Bush at the moment.
He'll soon be hassling me about being too liberal.
But I still think that the GOP is heading for some problems. There is a lot of discontent out there.
