A Lighter Note
I've mentioned before that my Quaker parrot, Sparky, had begun to lay eggs. The first one she had pushed out of her cage. The second one I took care of when she flew away when the vacuum cleaner came on. She now has three that is she brooding. Since they are unfertilized, in a few days I'll have to get rid of them. It will be a difficult task. She defends them fiercely. Her bite is something to contend with. She no longer flies away when the vacuum cleaner comes on. But the eggs will have to been thrown out soon.
Wish me luck. Oh and birds seem to have memories like elephants. She knows it was me who throw out the other ones! She eyes me constantly and is ever vigilant when I'm close by.

HAHA! My mom has a cockatiel that does the same thing. She didn't start laying eggs until Mom got another cockatiel and put (him, we presume) next to her.
She boils a bit of spaghetti to lure the bird away; she enjoys flipping the noodles around, and chewing on them.
While that's going on,and she isn't paying attention, my Dad does the dirty work.
BTW, I LOVE your cartoon.
c-mom,
Sparky is the only Quaker parrot I have. I have a parakeet but I don't allo it to fly free. Sparky is lying eggs without the benefit of a mate. And she won't go for any tricks like you're suggesting.
Good luck.
emanuel,
I'm going to need it! I just tried to pick them up a little while ago and she bite me and drew blood.
Seawitch,
Why can't Sparky have a boyfriend?
I am sure she would become a happier parrot.
To you they are just eggs but to her - they are her ...mhmm eggs!
felis,
Because I had a pair of parakeets that started breeding. I had 7 little parakeets. Talk about a mess.
Maybe I'll get her a mate. But she's kinda crazy!
