The United Arab Emirates Gets It?

In a move that surprised him, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, general secretary of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) was refused entry into Dubai when his plane landed from Pakistan. Mr Rehman is also the leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Islamic Party of Religious Leaders - JUI).
He had planned on staying in Dubai for a couple of days before going on to Saudi Arabia. No official reason was given but you can speculate it might have something to do with this:
Mr Rehman was a strong supporter of Afghanistan's ousted Taleban regime and has been a staunch critic of President Pervez Musharraf's policy of backing the US-led "war on terror". BBC News

Both of the groups listed above are dedicated to spreading an Islamic theocracy based on the Taliban. They were instrumental in proposing the Hisbah bill in the provincial capital Peshawar in Pakistan's North-West Frontier Province. Opponents fear the bill will lead to the Talebanisation of society. There is much opposition to this bill and is being fought at all levels.

So, Mr. Rehman cannot understand why the UAE government will deny him entry. I can understand fully well. Mr. Rehman was planning on next going to Saudi Arabia but has decided to go back to Pakistan. Being speculative, do you suppose the Saudi Arabian government considers him to be persona non grata also?

felis,

Hope you and the missus are enjoying your vacation.

They are too shy. A small start, but one none the less.
