On the Drive Home

I listen to a classic rock station. Tonight they played Aerosmith's Dream On. I thought it was appropriate for the ups and downs I've been having since Hurricane Katrina struck. See, I never really understood what it meant for your whole world to be turned upside down. Yesterday, I actually hugged the Bellsouth tech who got the rest of our business lines and DSL working! Last week, I watched as one by one the damaged houses around where I work were demolished and loaded up into debris trucks. There were nine houses. All those hopes and dreams of the people who once lived there changed forever.

On Friday, I went down Courthouse Road in Gulfport to see if I could park my car and walk down to the beach. The road is barricaded and has National Guard checking ID's. I just turned around. My soul will be restless until I know I can visit my beach.

On Saturday, I went window shopping and I was ecstatic that since Katrina hit, I have dropped two dress sizes!! So, I bought a pair of ear rings. It makes sense to me!

Anyways here are the lyrics to Dream On:

Everytime that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face gettin clearer
The past is gone
It went by like dust to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay

I know what nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win

Half my life is in books written pages
Live and learn from fools and from sages
You know it's true
All the things come back to you

Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away
(x2)

Dream on, dream on
Dream yourself a dream come true
Dream on, dream on
Dream until your dream come true
Dream on, dream on, dream on...

Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tears
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away

As long as it makes you spirit soar - go for it.

So it's a good thing that you dropped 2 sizes? We don't want you disappearing. Congrats on the earrings!

You will Seawitch and I expect a long posting about it when you do--with pictures!

Aerosmith--a sensational band and what a great song. One of my favourite stations here in Melbourne is "Gold 104". They play all the great classic stuff. You can't beat it.

boz,

Thanks for the encourgement and I'll post plenty of pictures!

Mine is WXRG and I like all the Southern Rock it plays with all the other greats. Does Gold 104 carry the Big Show? If not check out their website. It'll give you a dose of Southern humor and NASCAR.
