Fishing
One of the things I miss most from the factory being destroyed by Hurricane Katrina is all the people who worked there, the customers, and the fisherman. Today, the fisherman had returned!
He used to come everyday and I hadn't seen since Katrina struck. It was good to see him at his usual spot behind the factory. I still don't know his name!
This is some of the bounty he caught today. Most of the time he has sheepshead but no luck on that today. Just a blue crab, croakers, and what looks like a grouper.
This heron seemed to be waiting for something. He was 15 feet from where the man was fishing and unlike other herons did not fly away. Perhaps the fisherman gave him a few tidbits?
Good to see the fisherman!

I love that more signs are showing up of life continuing. And great pictures!
On a side note, I see my verification word is vlvYUKI -- Yuki is the name of my Maui friend's snow dog whose picture will be going up eventually. Just felt like mentioning that, lol.
esther,
It was just so good to see him!
Word verification can come up with interesting combos! Can't wait to see more of your pictures!
patrickafir,
No, just a blue crab. That recipe sounds good! I'll have to give it a try once they start catching them again.
Seawitch,
"Perhaps the fisherman gave him a few tidbits?"
Do you smell something fishy?
felis,
Yes, I do! A lot of the birds, herons, pelicans, and even the sea gulls are used to being feed. When the shrimp is being processed, any fish, squid, etc are picked out and usually thrown to the birds.
Seawitch,
I can relate ti that.
I love birds and I feed all sorts of wildlife living around my house.
Have you seen my birds collection?

felis,
Yes, I have. It was wonderful looking at all of them. I liked the one on the deck railing.
It was good for me to see the fisherman too seawitch. These insights that you provide me with make me feel closer than I otherwise might to this massive tragedy and to your regions amazing ability to recover.
The only thing is, now I want to know his name!
boz,
He wasn't there yesterday, rainy weather. I'll ask him next time I see him. He is just part of the little things I miss. Thanks for your kind words.
