Of Dominoes and Sparrows

A few weeks ago, a poor little sparrow minding his business was shot and killed. What was his crime? He upset a few dominoes that some people had set-up for a competition. People in the Netherlands and across the world were upset about the poor fellows demise. But the poor little fellow is soon to be part of a display at the Rotterdam Natural History Museum. The man who shot this poor defenseless little bird has been fined $200.00 for shooting a protected species.

According to the BBC News report the little guy will be displayed atop a box of dominoes.

As much as I feel for the dead bird (not that he/she/it gives a rat's arse about it) I must say I am surprised that the Dutch put sparrows on their protected species list.
Can't they go to Poland and bring some of these birds from there?
They are still considered utter pests over there.

Perhaps a good idea for a fast food chain: Domino Fried Sparrow

Wow, that's pretty low. I love guns, but I hate how they end up in the hands of idiots. You have to be pretty miserable to shoot a bird, unless you're hungry and you need to eat (and a sparrow wouldn't fill anyone up).

That's the way I feel. I care little that the poor little thing knocked down 23,000 dominoes. The poor little guy could have been chased outside.
