Interlude
(Sitting On) The Dock Of The Bay - Otis Redding
Sittin' in the morning sun
I'll be sittin' when the evening comes
Watching the ships roll in
Then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooh, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay wastin' time
I left my home in Georgia
Headed for the Frisco bay
'Cos I've had nothing to live for
And look like nothing's gonna come my way
So I'm just gonna sit on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooh, I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay wastin' time
Look like nothing's gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same, listen
Sittin' here resting my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone, listen
2000 miles I've roamed
Just to make this dock my home
Now I'm just gonna sit at the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooh wee, I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay wastin' time
Interlude, just because.

That is one of the songs that's haunted me for a couple of decades, especially this part:
Sittin' here resting my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone
Truly affects me...
esther,
For some reason it's been running through my head this past week. I finally gave in and posted about it.
It is a defeatist song.
C’mon girls we are fighters, we always bounce back.
felis,
Sometimes the longing I feel for sitting on the docks hits me hard. The phrase that I kept hearing was about sitting on the dock and watching the tide roll away and the ships come in.
I'm fighting these feelings and know I'll bounce back. Sometimes you have to acknowledge and work through the feelings of despair.
Seawitch,
"I'm fighting these feelings and know I'll bounce back"
I know you will.
felis,
Thank you.
